within the walls of our own homes

by Vere Mantratriad

dirty dishes can wait
took them all out today
waiting just so that
you could stand still
if still was what you wanted
but still I don’t think you want me
so I keep putting off the
get around behind and tell
the satan before me why
because I don’t miss much
but I always miss you
and that’s where it is
if you’re still trying to find it
you can mark it on your calendar
if it pleases anyone
or you can scream it in the streets
if you’ll be selling it again
but I don’t know why I even try
I don’t know why I ask what
or why or when
there’s no answers here
for a girl whose dishes pile up
and there’s no way in
for a boy who doesn’t ask
oh please take it down
if you put up any sort of fight
and I’ll pay one more time
to bring it in if I’m still out
got just five more chores
then you’re out the door
and I’ll be the sixth undone again

one time you posted something here that i liked so much, i cut and paste it into my live journal (it was a private entry, but this guy i was talking to at the time got the password and kept on logging in to my live journal to see if i had written anything about him--needless to say that did not work out and inspired about two years worth of horrible poetry in my library). It had a line in it "i search for you in bins and pits" I remember that line a lot. Anyway, I like this one too:

"so I keep putting off the get around behind and tell
the satan before me why
because I don’t miss much
but I always miss you"
