not your average fish fry (collab with Nanette)

by Ava Blu

he was a solid beginning
to a year of heavy breathing
and tossed dreams

which was a great break
in the usual nightmares
i'd been having

he would walk around with that sort of swagger
that had all the women giddy with anticipation of his words,
and I was just walking by
waiting for a new lesson

when he grabbed me by my wrist and said
"Let me take you away from here."
I told him
"I doubt you can take me
some place I've never been."

His eyes were grey
and I know it was just a reflection of
the past that wouldn't let him be

He screamed, "Baby, there are things your body doesn't know about that your heart is telling me you need."

I wished I had turned my heart off.
Put up a block so he couldn't see
just how right on he was.

"Well, if it involves you inside me, honey, I've had plenty of your kind
course my veins."
I snapped back like fire.

For the first time, I could tell he was at a loss
and he hesitated to say anything back.
The long pause gave me time to build a fort to keep his fingers out.

He smirked, "It's going to be fun gaining your trust and throwing you against every brick wall in the darkest alleys."

I knew he was right, again, and this time the fort built
wouldn't keep me from dragging my body against his.

I was becoming my own ball and chain,
except if I did find a bridge along the way to whichever alley he pleased,
there'd be no use in jumping.
The other end of my chain is shackled to him.

which only leaves me with the one option
of allowing his hands to run along my insides
until Dawn becomes Night
and I become a stranger
just like he was to me 5 minutes ago.

what could it hurt?
having my back pressed against a wall,
internal organs exposed,
moonlight reflecting and dancing
off of two bodies becoming one

he could see the conversation within my head,
the shoulders loosening as the decision is made
to go away with him

I leaned over, kissed his lips,
and allowed my eyes to forget the future

at least until the day he decides
to find another fish.

Author's Note: What can I say? Nanette and I make quite an interesting pair! I loved working with her.

Nanette seems like an amazing person to collab with. Although, you kick her butt with words. ;)
