Leaving Home

by Joan Serratelli

I'm leaving
today
I'm not wanted
here
you've made it
clear
you don't want me
anymore

Maybe if I
go
we can think
All we do is
fight
This has to
stop

I'm leaving
today
just for a few
days
Maybe we can
learn
to get along again

I love you
you know
but it's just not
enough
I'm tired of
fighting
battles that
cannot be won

I'm sorry
so sorry
but I really
have to
go

Understatedly powerful, if that makes sense.

I hope this isn't autobiographical. None the less, this is a situation every poet can relate to. We probably all been there at one ttime or another. Sometimes words get in the way and it's time and space that heals the wounds best.

a little time for healing can be a good thing. if nothing else, it gives you the peace and strength to try again.

Somtimes we feel that way, and sometimes we stay anyways. This is poetry that serves as self-authenication, that you could do this if you needed too. In caring for your "whole" person. Thanks.
