I can see the future,
the way that astronomers
can see into the past,
the old light that has filtered
through the universe
bathes all our faces
in luminous archaic photons
and we watch stars
supernova
millions of years later.

In the same way
the new pain that you inflict
each day
filters through the vacuum
of my heart
and pulls its weight inward
so that I can
watch my heart collapse
though it wont happen
till tomorrow
or the next day.
