on the inside the coast is clear

by Ava Blu

it's the nights when my head pounds
and my heart is too full on the carbon monoxide
i received from your mouth when

you will bound me to the games you're favored to lose
and i will sink further into the covers that cannot keep the cold
out of our bed

i can turn a frog into a prince
if my lips weren't so chapped,
but i'm afraid i'll never be able to dance
with you

it's the water under the bridge that continues to choke me
while the sun tans my limbs that have bruises from you
when you didn't even touch me

this is the dream i can never tell
and the reason why this life isn't
over yet.

I really like the image of sinking further into the bed. It definitely seems to be an emotion that runs across this whole piece. And as always, you do it well and keep us right in the heart of what's running through your mind. A lot of great lines in this, a lot of really striking imagery.
