Sometimes We Agree by Jeffrey ParrenThese are the gripes
of the underappreciated
both of and for
the cause.
Food taking too long
as a poor reflection
of service,
is sometimes misplaced
where the blame
and control
are sometimes
the kitchen's only.
Though I understand
you are paying and tipping
based on the experience
sometimes the culprit
is the cause of pain
for not only waited on
but waiter as well.
The many factors
that help food come out
in a timely manner
are also those same things
that together go awry
if only one step is faulty.
Sometimes the waiter
and customer
do agree:
"The food is taking
too long!"
The waiter saying it
with anger
using aggressive language
inside the inferno
while out on the floor
uses calming language
to ease the pressure
fighting to save a tip
that weighs in the balance
as the customer
says the same thing
under his/her breath
and sometimes
aggressively too
towards the waiter
both want the food out
in a timely manner
because if the customer
is happy
the tip may be better
and inversely
makes the waiter happy, too. 02/18/2009 Posted on 02/19/2009 Copyright © 2026 Jeffrey Parren
