My father's name
is Paul.
He is selling
my parents' house
which is now his.

He is doing what he can
trying to make best
of a situation
that he couldn't control
but now dealing is upon him.

My mother's name
was Sharon.
She died in October, '04.
She took nothing with her
and took everything with her.

She kept the hugs
the kisses, even
the actuality of her voice
though memories keep them
tucked in situations.

My name is Jeffrey
given by my parents
and that can't be
taken away by
the fragility of life.

The serenity of family
even after all the tough times
is what I remember
the memories that bind us
link us forever.
