To a Lovely Man

by Brian Fuchs

Oh, sweet beauty in mismatched socks and unkempt hair,
sing to my in darkness of how you too have longed to be alone with me
and how sweet betrayal can be when the desire seems to outweigh everything else.
I missed you when I was away and yet I don’t seek you out.
You are not mine and not to be mine and yet my mouth wants to taste you.

Author's Note: Originally, this was titled "Ode to a Lovely Man," but I changed it because I don't write actual odes. I might change it back.
