The Agony of Defeat by Jeffrey ParrenThe agony of defeat
is only as great
as the fight in the dog.
The refusal to submit
under the forces
of habit and letdown
keeps the fury alive
while hopes and dreams
survive bitter days.
When positives fester
all is lost
and, too, the agony of defeat
becomes accepted
sometimes expected
the dog is broken. 02/18/2009 Posted on 02/18/2009 Copyright © 2024 Jeffrey Parren

Posted by George Hoerner on 02/18/09 at 12:45 PM I see what you say, but this old dog has been bitten to the quick. He hides in dark hallways, and sleeps in un-opened doorways. Good write though and maybe in another day another time. |
