love is a one-way street by Ava Bluit’s difficult staying miserable
when the light shines so fucking bright
when you’re around
I try to cry,
to let the emotions implode
and explode around people,
but you keep the flames hidden
and the well keeps drying up
I want to be lonely,
don’t you get it?
at least I always thought I did
but it seems that isn’t the case
and I’ve run out of excuses for
running away
like the ball and chain around my heart,
I’m going to drag myself back up from the ground
I’m going to stop worrying about what you think of me
and just accept how this feels
because I knew that one day
something would make sense
and somehow those wishes on every first two stars
would finally pay out.

don't take it the wrong way, this is actually a happy poem
love isn't a two-way street, it's more like a one-way street with lots of places to yield and wait for the lights to turn green. and sometimes, just sometimes, you're lucky enough to have someone riding the same one-way street.

Posted by Nanette Bellman on 02/18/09 at 06:06 PM the author's note clears up alot of things, as does the "atleast i thought i did" part. well said. |
