Recipe for Shark Fin Soup

by David Hill

Want to impress your guests?
Betcha by golly, yes!

Evolve into the
alpha predator,
planetary meddler,
delicacy peddler!
From Big Bang
to bear bladder,
rhino horn,
and gator shoes,
you snooze you lose!
Allow four billion years.

Sail your trawler to Taiwan.
Catch one shark, any size.
No need to bleed,
harden that heart!
A small thing really,
Piccadilly!
Detach all fins with
a quick sharp blade,
slash-slash-slash,
now promenade!

Let us see,
how low can you go?
Pretty darn low,
everybody limbo!
Return that writhing hammer
to the bottom most manor
of roiling reddened sea,
Born free!

Back at your digs,
boil broth over medium heat,
add in the fin, simmer, serve, eat!
Bon appetite!

Easy, don’t you think?
Noooow you're in the pink.
Repeat until extinct!
