When the time comes
to mark the table
with necessary utencils

I make sure
to give everyone
a steak knife

(other than younger people
using my discretion...
on of the self-actualized perks,
no doubt.)

So when
Fred the guest
or
Helen the diner
give me the old

"I am eating fish,
isn't this a bit excessive?"

as if the change in
cutlery alters the flavor

or worse yet
harms the flesh

and then
look at me
as if my IQ
was less
than the cost
of that fish
because it is a
STEAK knife.

I simply utter
"Everyone gets a steak knife"
and if that doesn't work
I retreat
to fetch a butter knife
which somehow puts them at ease

so they can enjoy that
Salmon
Seabass
Tuna, etc

in this high-end
Prime
Steakhouse.
