Father needed. Apply Within. by Charlie Morganby noon the day shrugged-off it's worries;
gifted them all on our backs as we trudge
through a daily existence of love and pain.
a wall of tears separate as she walks;
pushing her two-year old gift of tresses.
curly-locks framing a face of curiousity.
soon she'll look in his eyes for truth;
amazed! she finds fools' gold underneath.
looks in the mirror for needed answers.
cracking, the mirror hurries to repair;
only too late, the fracture runs deep.
too deep. replacement needed. sought.
if, ... if, ...if only i... 02/16/2009 Posted on 02/16/2009 Copyright © 2026 Charlie Morgan

| Posted by George Hoerner on 02/17/09 at 12:17 AM Good write Charlie. Ah yes, the eternal IF is always in the mirror. That's why I'd rather look through the window at what is out there. But some only see what might have been instead of what is possible. |
| Posted by Sandy M. Humphrey on 02/17/09 at 03:21 PM With me it was rose colored glasses and a father who would be king...not what it seemed and the world did fade, wounds do run deep when promises break and subsitutes are looked for...I relate so much in this poem...if...only who...smh |
