I Hate Valentines

by Christopher Shin

Sip and sap
the world drinks
the sorrow away.
The sadness
draws me closer to
the weary.

And I am but a pawn
of your tragic spawn
of youth long gone.
She loved me and now
she spurns me with
smiles I feel like
icy daggers in
my heart.

I loved you always,
but died forever
in the tragedy
of you and me.
