Pieces by George Hoernerthey are all over
some here, some there
used or un, as befits them
some broken by fate
in pieces scattered
by wind or erosion
ravaged possibly by time
or just twisted
left abused by someone
trying to use them
in a manner not worthy
possibly used so much
they no longer know
where they belong
thrown aside but still alive
still hoping for someone
to help them find their place
to pick them up
and handle them gently
as if they meant
something worth while
possible even use them
in a poem

Posted by Gabriel Ricard on 02/11/09 at 09:44 PM I really like that fourth stanza. A pleasure, as always. |
Posted by A. Paige White on 02/11/09 at 10:30 PM The last two gave me the warm fuzzies. Most of the people I've ever known are in pieces... what a puzzle. |
