sleep to dream

by Sophia Grace

i tell myself; now it is time.
time to forget now, this and us,
this yawning precipace between
sleep and waking, obscene with
its endless rolling shores
shrouded in sleep and velvet black.
and you, nearly swallowed by the
dunes, cradled by windswept ridges
and yes, i will come for you.

yes, i will come for you. swan
dive into the mouth of this
beast for you. break my brittle,
coral bones for you. climb the
velvet ropes from the moon to
the waves for you. walk miles
across our continental divide
for you. these are the refuges
of dreamers - take my hand.
