On Devouring

by H.M Stevens

That crimson, mustached, arrow tailed man

Placed his hoof one in front of the other

Fingers wrapped around a split

His appearance moving slowly but overwhelmingly

Exhaling in one long

PUFF

that seeped through veins

Through insides

And captured a sensitivity

His eyes moved left, then right, quickly

And he emerged upon an artery, clipping the valve

Trimming humanity

Proclaiming emotion.

Too much to bear, thy harm themself

And so off went that heart

Pumping blood directly to the brain

Bobbing in a black hole

The pointy toed man's inhabitance

A holding nest, he came out from once too much

Inability gave way to overwraught temples

And you were gone

A touch of humor along with the pathos. No sympathy for old split hoof!
