Atacama Trench

by Melissa Panther

Oceans are not deep
We are deep
We drink oceans and
Lick salt water from our lips
We move countries
We don’t need to be
Recognized to know
We’re in the right place

We hold incredible strength
When something goes wrong
But all is well now
We can save strong arms
For later
For tilting teapots and
Tinkering with immovable objects
We coalesce and digress only because
We know no other way
