gains by Charlie Morganslowly the sap gains strength to make the climb;
a charge from the Warm: move up, high as you can.
stop. fill crevices with a noiseless din of life.
buds, new this year, grow on aged, worn-out nodules
and trade lethargy for the throbbing pulse of life.
awaiting nestlings and Florida-bound scavengers
round-out the vitae of Spring warning of Summer coming.
nestlings plead for their meals, ocean waves lap
the beach, gathers foam and returns to barter
with the wider oceans what he has just procured.
seaweed flows with the undercurrent; topwater waves too.
all lead by unnoticeable forces; felt but never seen.
a tern soars overhead, darting in the salty sea-air.
a crow caws as it crosses the inland ocean of Iowa.

| Posted by George Hoerner on 02/09/09 at 06:26 PM Charlie, I love this as a tribute to Spring and Life. But other than your 'crow', does anyone really live in Iowa? heh Beautiful write! |
