everything's a cousin

by Charlie Morgan

she cries, we wipe the tears away.
say 'now, now it's not that bad!'

like we would shoo away a gnat.

turn and go to our happiness.
she's left crying as we leave.

go to our happy place, which
is just as miserable, our eyes

are not able to see up-close.

so her tears are our tears,
we just don't recognize them.

flood-gates of pathos open
for them, cry it out

while we stiff-upper-lip ours.

when will we ever learn;
you are me, i am you.

different days, same song.

I love it Charlie and so true. We don't always see the mirror standing in front of us but we all breath the same air. Very nicely done! We'll walk past the homeless lying on the sidewalk, then wipe the tears for a loved one. Sometimes our love is too small!

Everything's a cousin, but sometimes....
we have a preference for those "kissin' cousins"... ;-D Beautifully done, darlin.
