Wallflower of me and you

by Christopher Shin

Fly away and I am
on the wall again.
When everything says
that all I am should
be out and about.

All I can do is cling
to the barren white,
and maybe sometimes
face the wallpaper
that makes me
ignored so easily.

Oh how the obvious
frustrates me when
I am alone in thought.
But wine is the truth
that makes my mind
and tongue speak
as one.

Easily ignored and forgotten
but brightened with darker
eyes the world seems
with but a few drawn
to the dark glimmering
light that I shine.

So easily am I gone,
and no love but all
in my shadows.
I struggle in my
empty glasses and
forgotten words.
