Feb. 3 - "I don't really want to write"

by Jason Wardell

I don't really want to write
because I lost my favorite pen,
my glasses have a smudge
and cleaning's far beyond my ken.

I really can't create
with all those books upon my shelves,
I've got a dozen mails to read
and these mines sure won't sweep themselves.

I think I'd rather go to sleep
than sit and try to force some verse.
To remain here any longer
will just make me rage and curse.

Though if I were to write a poem
it would need to be quite light.
A poem devoid of substance--
the best way to end the night.

i rarely ever want to write, but something makes me! i swear the $#%@ing words won't let me sleep or relax or think of anything else unless i get them out.

LOL, like night-light reading...we gotta do what we gotta do, and poets are implored by commanding words, even if it feels "devoid of substance"...here's to you listening to the yearning voice within, even as we fight it...happy writing, jewels
