right wing frozen by Mary Frances Spencerleft march
we attempt to go forward
unable to walk with the two
legs
body mind
less spirit unheard
coherent function
smoothness denied by archaic greed
eyes ego driven can’t see
fear crippling clenched thighs
so limping into this new age
like frozen food
heavy and stuck in the depths
the deplorable state
California
broke and broken
like our country
unable unwilling to dig deep
like lopsided chickens
progress rolls in bitter greens
sinks in the stagnant
let us yank heavy heads out
open our lotus beaks
find the seeds
crunch hope

like frozen food"... original imagery, with both clarity and humor. Love the "lotus beaks" too! |
