Dream Catcher

by Vikki Owens

You hung a dream catcher
above our marriage bed,
because I'd been having nightmares
since before we'd met.

It was to catch the bad dreams,
which collected as beads in the web,
and the good dreams
would trickle down the threads
into my head
and my dreams would be sweet.

And my dreams WERE sweet,
but you were the dream catcher.
