I Wish I was a Texas Poet by Alison McKenzieLong teenage nights spent
Trying to get at the beer,
Hankering after the beauties,
Growing into love the old fashioned way,
Shaping the young minds from a chalkboard,
Soaking up the reflection of grandchildren,
Lamenting the relentless march of time in age.
Instead, Im just a small-town wannabe,
Driving into the big city every now and then,
Attending class mid-way
Through a womanhood
Just to try and get it right!
