Lead Us

by George Hoerner

i try swimming through
the reflecting pool to see
our new Lincoln speak
but am turned away
by those who believe
i’m a terrorist

this man who knows
he is not a king
but shining as one
while he explains
the difficulties we face

giving us a taste of
the new America
one open to all
willing to participate
in its rebirth
sorely needed

lead us please
to that mountain top
the one that gives us
a lovely perspective
of what this country
can be

and now
the work begins

And what a perspective Washington D.C. was yesterday with the crowds out in the cold just to be there!!! Onward, Upward, finally a path, a plan!! Namaste MFS

Soaring, heart-lifting speech...uplifting poem to celebrate the event....well done, George!

There's an energy going through a lot of people right now, and it's definitely running through this. Here's to hoping we can do something with that energy, eh?

While I feel passionately the exact opposite of this and feel an absolutely opposed energy - I want to say, this is a good poem. Nice job with it!
