the rain in spain by Jared Fladeland
if you drink in the layers
of an afternoon in spain,
you'll find yourself amused
by the frolicking in the rain.
i do not always know
how to begin to chip away at stone,
but i know inside every rock
is the beauty one can hone.
with just a little bit of work
and patience, and fortitude
we can live in a grape vine
and an abundance of food
for the soul. a meal worthy
of the end-of-days feast
when a great white knight
slays the six headed beast.
and if you drink in the layers
of an afternoon in spain,
you'll find yourself amused
by the frolicking in the rain
