Precious is by Julie Adams
the first letter back from the detention center
the blunt honesty of the black ink and the space between
the silver touch of God lining the legal paper pages
the thoughts that slip between bars and heavy sighs
the wandering hours of the first eight moonless months
the cherished feel of white cotton on maple skin
the kiss of a rare raindrop fed from the heavens
the laughter you sprinkle on the fondest of memories
the faithful who await your imminent resurrection
the lessons swimming in your unwavering strength
the clarity of time both given and taken away
the blessed children dancing in your dreamscapes until

Posted by A. Paige White on 01/19/09 at 11:26 AM It is a beautiful tribute to your precious one. "the blunt honesty of the black ink and the space between" is like the breath taken between words "the silver touch of God lining the legal paper pages" is a beautiful reminder of how God works through friends to befriend us. |
Posted by Sarah Wolf on 01/19/09 at 03:32 PM I love the layout of this piece... beginning each sentence in this way makes it all stand out an demand attention. I am also very fond of the line "the kiss of a rare raindrop fed from the heavens" Lovely Julie... I like your skill and your style... You are so original... You make me jealous... |
