With The Boys

by Leonard M Hawkes

Though icy,
We were sauntering,
And at twelve, fourteen,
Here well-blended,
With older men.

"This is timeless,"
I thought;
(You too
At my side,
As you often are)

Again absorbing
A gray morning,
Sucking the marrow
From beauty's
Eternal bone.

Simple, but right to the heart. I like the approach, and I think you did some really good work here.
