Likewise Lavinia

by Vikki Owens

O Lavinia,
I have lost my hands and tongue as well.
I know the feeling of loss and helplessness
and silenced rage.

'Speak gentle sister, who hath martyred thee?'

But there are no fingers to point
and no words to speak
only

'..see how my wretched sister sobs and weeps'

Author's Note: all quotes, of course, from Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus.

One of my favorites, actually. Great stuff.
