Dancing Dreams

by Alisa Js

was I wrong to believe in the dream again
peered through the windows of chance
brimming on the edge of a smile,
undetected
till now,
full of hope and a promise
that sweetened my days
and warmed my night fires,
thoughts of renewal and change
for this beating heart
that has seen so much pain and other great sorrows
life is a dream
a mere illusion of the mind
when does reality set in?
maybe when one or the other finds
a new way to say
it’s time …

I really like those last three lines. Well stated.

There is no reality except that which we make up as we go along. We take a step and say a word hoping both might mean something.
