Waiting for the Day

by Thomas K. Hunt

I get my daily dose but I still feel the pain
Taking assorted colors of these and those
Yet still this pain remains

Shine on sunshine burn off the clouds
I’m waiting for the day
When I wake in the morning with this pain gone away

I’m checking the fuel for the right octane
Flushing the pipes once or twice a day
Placing my feet firmly on the floor
Wondering what’s behind that other door

Take hold of every age
All the past to this breathe
Take another bow on stage
The shows not over yet

In the hour before the sun
Standing on the starting line
There to greet the dawn
Waiting on the sun to shine

Shine on sunshine burn off the clouds
I’m waiting for that day
When I wake in the morning with this pain gone away

Some discipline is lacking
Most things remain the same
Who you are and where you’ve been
You’re only known by your name

The road, it does get shorter
Read the signs along the way
Pay attention to the story
There’s a new one every day

There’s so much to do
Times running out
Before they’re faces of my past
See the faces that count

Shine on sunshine burn off the clouds
I’m waiting for the day
When I wake in the morning with this pain gone to stay

Very defined, wonderfully done lyrical tone to this. Good stuff.
