No Need

by Alison McKenzie

I drift alone
In the bottom of my boat
Toward an open sea,
Glass surface,
And the dolphins just below
Cresting to breathe
And play.

I am reminded
How moving the air
Quells the heart pounding.

I am reminded
How warm the sun,
Protection in the arms
Of this ocean.

I drift,
A lazy tune of calm
And windchimes
Circles ‘round inside
And through,
Weaving my cocoon
From tender threads
Of comfort,
And knowing
There is no need.

If we could all subdue our needs the world might be a far better place. Nice write Alison.

Nothing like knowing what's best for a given moment, then just going ahead to do the exact opposite. Good stuff.

We truly are all we need...

...calm, solemenity, acceptance of the 'ride'...yeah, like alisajs says: we just need ourselves...others are gifts...
