No Need by Alison McKenzieI drift alone
In the bottom of my boat
Toward an open sea,
Glass surface,
And the dolphins just below
Cresting to breathe
And play.
I am reminded
How moving the air
Quells the heart pounding.
I am reminded
How warm the sun,
Protection in the arms
Of this ocean.
I drift,
A lazy tune of calm
And windchimes
Circles round inside
And through,
Weaving my cocoon
From tender threads
Of comfort,
And knowing
There is no need.
