The Flower contradiction

by Christopher Shin

The stream doesn't
seem so long anymore,
but the tide continues
to drown hopes.

Fame doesn't seem
so intoxicating,
but it still brings
a great mystery.

Love doesn't break
jab it's stinger
into my chest,
but she binds
me like a web.

Sadly the ashes
linger and my mouth
still thirst for
hope.

Yet all the tragedy
is my shadow that
clings and keeps
me warm in it's
cold grasp.

Any ambition fled
when everything went
wrong but nothing
ever seems so right.

So the contradiction
bangs onward as
lyrics and flowers
blossom in my head.
