we evolve into a memory

by Charlie Morgan

a dogday drags-on, an eternity of moments.
shavings of a life lived, arrayed at mefeet.
i collect as many as my grandson can hold;

start a pile: call it my Kai-pile-o'-memories.
it's heavy with my breath as i lean in, smell.
each one an aroma of development, growth.

so many i won't see; first baby, second baby.
graduations of said people; their kindred.
nearly sad in thought; yet, proud recollections.

my shadow lays across you, your arm shields your eyes.
i live as a shadow, in the shadows of reminiscence.
light will be dark, dark will be light. it is.

G-Minor shifts to a blue screen, we all step in.
judge tomorrow by the glint of past yesterdays.
sip a mint julep; ponder who is important in our life.

A considerable write here Charlie. Yes, just who is, was, or maybe important in a life? Tough question posed with no easy answers. Well done.
