Knowing

by George Hoerner

i know
your love wants
the security of my arms
the look in my eyes
which say they understand
the breath of my lips
whispering warm words

i know
your love wants
the weight of my body
holding you down and together
my hands reminding you
of tender times unfolding
these lips invading
your private places
searching all your sensitivities
as i worm my way
into your deepest spaces

i know what your love wants
but i come with no warranty
and can provide little guaranty
that i can perform
the miracles you need

Well, George you have certainly nailed it with this one. Pun INTENDED! lol... I believe in romantic relationships, it's that security so many want to grab hold of... yet, if the truth be told, it's not another who 'completes us'... but rather, it's what we bring to the table that compliments another... thank you for sharing this most perceptive commentary on modern romance today... alisa ;-)

But sometimes, it's worth taking the chance, right? No matter how old we get, no matter how many times we get knocked down, it seems like the only thing we really can do is get to our feet, try again and hope for the best. Because, hell, you never know when you're gonna strike gold, right? That's the sense I got from this, and I think you illustrate that with incredible skill and form.

This is beautifully written and let me tell you writing a love poem TO a woman is a great idea for reminding her how much she means to you and how much you love her. I am envious.

The honesty and subtle psychological and physical implications are strong in this poem. The title and repetition of the "I know"'s like three wishes give an understated power. The shape of the poem is suggestive of the content.
