kamikaze

by Mary Frances Spencer

2008
still spins
drags the empty spool
around our necks

anchoring
rusty old
heavy emotions
fear anger tangled
locked up
so difficult to
sail ahead

can we shatter
punch
past chains with
precise positive
kicks

with kamikaze
intent focus energy
unthread

and fly into
the face

2009
hovering

a smile away

12/30/2008

Author's Note: Just trying to throw off the stuff from 2008 that does not serve me. Happy New Year to all! Full sail ahead!!! MFS

Sounds like a plan, and it certainly sounds like you're ready to rock and roll.

Hey, you're right, we have to be tough, time/baggage is difficult stuff, and hard work. But, we can do it. We must. Excellent. Thanks.

For sure, Mary Frances. Let's get rid of 2008, it's served its purpose and the old man is crochety and in the way.

Vividly portray putting off the old to put on the new as the year changes.
