Sputter

by Anita Mac

Flicker of a lighter.

My gaze lingers
until I shake it;
noticing you noticing.

A silent keen intrigue;
a deeply buried,
but thinly veiled,
murmur of intention
in your eyes.

I worry you are testing me.

I worry you are not.

I really like this acknowledgement of insecurity. Most of us try to hide it behind bravado. Nice write.

George said it best. This is a great thought on insecurity. I don't think you ever get to shake that kind of thing off, no matter how old you get. Nicely done.
