Gone as fast as breath upon a window.

by Jared Orlando

She put on such a sad face
when she approached the train;
It seems there was nothing but tears
Disguised as a winter rain;
Winter rain disguised as a sudden pain
Ripping through her chest.
One step aboard and her
Eyes glazed over,
And one sweet look
Over her shoulder
She knew not what her eyes would behold her,
As my own disguise shown through.
But, interesting enough
She pulled herself together,
Sat herself upon the worse-for-worn leather
And set off in the cold, desolate weather,
For a place much larger than here.

Here's to hoping she gets there. Very nice work.
