Battered

by Elizabeth Hoadley

all of my
hope and wonder
mixed in a blender
of fulfilled uncertainty

I question the recipe
of an unquestionable destiny

and think of tweakings
to make it
crispier,
flakier,
and more tender
with every bite

Thinking,
pondering,
and wondering,
if all this effort,
all this time
is worth that
savory taste

Baked in the
sun's oven
and caked by
the moon's
glow

I sit
and
wait in shadow...

for the earth
to turn night
into day
and
create a
pastry
worth every bite
to be eaten
by my voracious dreams

Some really powerful introspection here. You do a fantastic job with it.

As 'tasty' a metaphorical poem as I've read here in quite some time. Wonderful work!
