The Story In Your Eyes by Dan KastenThe wind along Boardman Street blows hard tonight
snow bands off Lake Erie take away my only view
of a crane pulling bricks from an abandoned building
done so with great care so as not disrupt
the art deco façade of the ballet building next door
with heart and ears full of choral works from the season
I step outside with texts and case in hand
only to have my bookmark blow out into the snow
a picture of you from a time when honesty had value
a kiss was a promise and the story in your eyes
danced with images of you and me.
