Something by Christopher ShinI miss the way
she made me feel
when the intoxication
faded in the end.
I feel the winter
wind blows against
my scalp and I
know that she is
near as the cold
kisses linger.
So I turn to
the bottle of
red next to me,
and the glass is
almost gone.
Ashes flicker and fade,
as they scatter
all around me,
and all the autumn
leaves die along
with me.
How I wish to
be free from
her love but
she holds me
like a binding
that can't break.
My spine aches
with how she holds,
me and yet I am
not there to be held.
So I stand with
open plates and
empty bottles of
youth as age
dies with me and
love is gone
forever. 12/20/2008 Author's Note: A song simple like Something from the Beatles makes me think about How
