topic: zoo confusion

by Aaron Michael

entrapment gilded with reality,
enclosed, yet so open
i can touch the sky.
cake served on sundays
and three green meals
ph balanced, vitamin enriched
and dead all ready.
i can have my cake
but only a small slice
of wild
but i have to hunt.

i will bite the hand that feeds.

The zoo I cannot visit. Last visit, years gone by, I met a leopard who was imprisoned -of all places- right above where the fish swim. This, naturally, brings him out to hunt and look great to the onlookers...

Being an onlooker, unable to be a participant of this creature, I felt stifled, along with him...

The difference being. I could escape.

He could not.

Some say to me, "Well, this is his life, the one he knows. He's accustomed himself to it"

I think, How would you know?

Your poem moves the bars, Aaron. siam mais! ~Jill
