Now and Again, A wonder winterland by A. Paige White Now and a gain
Twelve days of Christmas
marking this internal calendar
The stockings are stuffed
hung from the chimney
The rocking chair is by the fire
Santa Claus is looking over my shoulder
To winter the wonderland
I understand the man of the North Pole,
He likes his milk and cookies.
The Santa of the south
wants a goblet of gumbo
steaming by the stove
This Santa disturbs the squirrels
that live in his woods
They ride his reindeer shining in the yard
Now and again
They ride the wreath, knocking
to throw acorns in the door
and bounce away giggling,
chittery-chattery
Tiggerish in zest
This is no jest
Birthdays are celebrated
with gifts and mirth
Puppies are petted
Grand children luster all our seasons
with true worth
The financials and such news
we shut outside the door
no television to tell a vision
of this season new
this season again
Now and Again
A Winter Wonderland
The star of Bethlehem
is
Shining Now
and Again
as back when
the Christ of Christmas was born
The man of the North
The man of the South
The star of the East
The wonder of the West;
The wind of the blessed
Wonder of winterland
Candles bright, nightly delight
reverent melodies of the heart
to the maker of endings
our maker of starts
Now and again

Author's Note: May the Prince of Peace
Be born anew to the heart
Now and again

"to the maker of endings
our maker of starts"

Posted by JD Clay on 12/22/08 at 09:34 PM This is an all encompassing account of the grandest event in history and you've certainly portrayed it as the brightest white it could possibly be. The playful interaction between stanzas is quite noticable. Almost as if each line were frolicing in the wonderment of winter themselves. My favorite line is: "The wind of the blessed". It's perfect!
