A TEASE HER PLEASE HER (REVISED)

by Charles E Minshall

'Twas midday of Christmas
And I heard from my spouse,
"You didn't buy me a present,
There is none in the house."

She said, "I looked on the mantle
And under the tree,
But there isn't a present here
Not a present for me."

So I showed her my wallet,
My wallet was bare,
The cost of her present
Took the money from there.

Wipe away the tears, I told her,
Don't be a grouch,
Your present is hidden
Look under the couch.

Under the couch was this note
Your present's not here,
Try taking a look
Underneath the stair.

Under the stair
Was another short note,
Now look in the closet
Inside of your tote.

Inside the tote
Was a note that said,
Go upstairs now
Look under the bed.

Hidden under the bed
Was another note from me,
Go look under the mat,
The mat beneath the tree.

That note said I hope you had fun
It's been fun for me,
Your present hidden with love
Is above, high up in this tree.

Hmmmm seems to be plenty of money around. Look at all the millions of dollars given to the Obama campaign (not to mention the others). And look at the billions being given to those who were the real cause of the "lack of money"! Anyway, clever poem; your usual crisp humor.

I don't think it's just George either, but he's definitely somewhere in the top-ten, if I had to guess. Loved this.

...and I'm so glad she allows you to share that twinkle in your eye with us. This is great Charlie and thanks for it.
