Tears on Every Step

by David Garner

Tears on every step
Walking up the monument
I see you
I feel you
I remember you
It’s been a long time
You used to be so good looking
Now I see the weather and the age
But the body looks better than ever
If you like that sort of thing
Your hair is long and blonde
Not the best look for you
But you need a little length
Don’t you
To hide behind the curls and messy pieces
You’ve changed
But maybe you’ve gotten better
Ready for your resurrection
I salute you
I pray for you
I wish for you
Through the weather and the pain
All the
Glory
You deserve

Though the words don't specifically reflect it, there is an awesome depth and love felt throughout. As always, David, when you write something from your heart, the intensity comes through.
