i know, but...

by Charlie Morgan

the cold crawls thru my floors, walls
and leaps in when the door is opened;
grins a ghouls-grin and he's off to chill
the world of it's love and warm nurture.

i'm left standing, shivering, ninging
for June and it's summer's sun, beaches;
i am friends with the Cold, it's just that
too many friends, allows no private time.

so like Everest, i'll stand frozen; stoic,
with all the world's fabric ripping, tearing;
and like Mona Lisa, i'll have a sly smile;
one that makes Jesus wonder and muse aloud.

as the wind whips the flora and fauna to frenzy,
i flip-up my collar, scrunch-up my cold shoulders,
and imagine a Pina Colada, in June, in Aruba,
with an umbrella in the drink and one shading me.

and yesterday and tomorrow have no name.

it's funny, i'm begging for it to get cold in the desert and you're dreaming of the tropics. i'd take the tropics any day.

I ADORE the cold. There is a quiet in it, a forced peace that no one can argue with. Winter is about acceptance, and tolerance, and powerlessness...all those elements just lying in the wait in my heart these days. What coincidentally good timing the seasons have!! 'Course, I have this extra layer to protect my vital organs, so it's easy enough for me to say. Hehe.

Sounds like you're just ooutside MY door Chaz! I always long for Summer when Winter comes to visit. Nicely expressed.
