mother

by Mary Frances Spencer

2 progeny follow me
linked DNA strands
unwinding time

one’s hormones at the cusp
hips nosrils flare
oh daughter 2 years from teen
sweet spices bubbling
what soup yet brews
innocent yet wise
she has been here
before

and son
breaks another window
flys through space
laughter deep eyes wide
hugs tight
young strong
just has to throw
something
new soul
or just fresh

so i balance
on ying yang rope
umbrella hope
father beside me
we walk
another family circus
evolving 3 rings
hoops into

our future

Author's Note: The prompt for this one was to write about the theme of "mother", so yes I am one and this is what I came up with... MFS

Very tightly written not a word wasted. Ahhh Motherhood it is a great thing!

Excellently woven, within and without. Delighted. Thank you.

Fascinating view of familial relationships, especially the progress of the progeny and its effects on the family.
