i choose insomnia

by Ava Blu

she’s one of those girls
who shaves pieces off
so she can fit into his wallet

she reads all the magazines
that tell her how to keep a man,
how to have an orgasm
and how to be beautiful

I want to find a manual for how to be ugly

I’d buy that

it’s the ugly people who get noticed the most

they don’t shave
and they’ll never fit in your back pocket

they stay up all night
reading unknown authors
and drinking chai

they’re so rarely touched
that it becomes easy
to never sleep.

Really nice write Jeanna. I used to young enough to chhose insomnia but that was long ago and far away unless I'm up late writing. A different perspective is exactly what most of us need, a different view of reality. If one could only determine what it really is.

My philosophia has tiltled a bit to the light.

i love the last stanza, the whole piece is awesome, but the last stanza hit a note i haven't felt for awhile.
