He Sees You, a poem for Nanette by David Garner***go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcE8YWdGtnI cut and paste it and play the song Water from the Same Source by Rachel's, then while the song is playing, come back and read the poem to the song as if it is the soundtrack to this scene*** He is out there, Nanette. I know he is.
Waves crash
More waves crash
Even more waves crash
They crash for a good while
And then
a bird
Then a foghorn
You stand on the shore
Hes in a ship
Crashing himself through the waves
Trying to get through the waves
He sees you, Nanette
He sees you from his ship
He sees your light
He sees your bright bright
Light
Glowing
Like your haloed skin
He tries to get to the ship to go faster
He tries to get his team of soldiers to make the ship go faster
He sees you, Nanette
He sees you from the waves and through the rain
And through the wind
You start to jump
He starts to squint
You wave your arms
He waves back
Oh this man in waiting on the waiting ship
Oh this man is waiting on the waiting ship
And the waiting ship is trying hard to get through
Trying hard to get through to you
More waves
More rain
He hums a Van Morrison song
Thinking of getting close to you
More waves
More rain
More heartbeats
More crashes of waves
Oh this man in waiting on the waiting ship
Oh this man is waiting on the waiting ship
He waits from far away
He wants newness and nearness in the form of you, Nanette
He screams
You scream back
He screams louder
You both laugh
You both cry
Waves between you on shore and on the waiting ship
Waves and rain
And lumps in throat
He sees you, Nanette
Oh this man in waiting on the waiting ship
He sees you
He sees only you, Nanette
He jumps
He kneels to jump higher
Over the edge and into the sea
You gasp
The soldiers run to the side of the ship
He swims through the violent winds and the violent waves
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
He swims to you
And then
You both embrace
Dripping wet embrace
From the depth of deepest seas
Salt sea hugs have never felt better
Sea salt hugs have never had a better reason ever ever to be invented
You two in the garden by the shore of the sea
Wet with sea
Wet with rain
Wet with good good good tears
He sees you, Nanette
He sees you
Even through tears
Even through rain
In this embrace
With his eyes closed
He sees you, Nanette
He
Sees
You

Posted by Nanette Bellman on 11/27/08 at 03:07 AM David, wow. I'm truly honored and flattered by this. It brought me to tears. Thank you soo much. Your faith in my personal strife allows me to keep believing and holding on. The music is an incredible highlight to this. I'm really just speechless about it. Thank you soo much again. |
